About me

I am a BACP registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist working with individuals and couples.

My most recent Counselling Diploma with Temenos in Sheffield was a 4 year course in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I have many years of experience, counselling in a wide variety of areas, helping clients who have been bereaved as well as clients with cancer and those that care for them.

Loss and it’s effects can be present in many areas of our lives especially at times of change, transition and endings and I offer counselling to help with these life events.

Having spent a number of years counselling for a national Mental Health Charity, I have seen how everyday life can be so overwhelming at times and that counselling can offer a safe and much needed space to reflect.

Before training as a Counsellor I worked with children and young people who were struggling to manage in their school setting. In recent years I have counselled many children and young people.

As a parent myself I know how challenging family life can be.

I have a real interest in the well-being of carers. I feel passionately that this role can be life changing and may impact greatly on the carer themselves, raising many emotions that counselling may help with.

Individual Counselling and Psychotherapy

I am trained in the Person-Centred Approach.  I believe that every client is doing the best in the situation they find themselves. We all have the ability for growth in ways that are healthy and fulfilling for us.

Sometimes this can be stunted or oppressed by events in our lives, past and present. Relationships we have experienced may not have encouraged us to listen to what it is that helps us to feel happy, safe and to be our true selves.

I offer a warm and supportive space that accepts you and what you bring to counselling. I try hard to understand what is happening for you and your experience of it.

Being valued in this way can be very freeing and affirming.

Relationship Counselling for Couples

There are many reasons why couples come to counselling. Life may be busy and demanding and they may find themselves drifting apart. For others, arguments are preventing the closeness and enjoyment they once shared. Sometimes there is a single event that unexpectedly challenges the relationship.

Using Emotionally Focused Therapy and an Attachment Focus we can begin to track the negative cycle you may have got into and the positions you take. Sadness and fear at what is happening to a couple can lead to distancing and blaming and instead of turning towards each other, they turn away making it harder to feel close and loving to their partner.

In our work together we would work towards finding a place of security and closeness in your relationship again.

Session fee: £65

Anxiety, Asperger’s Syndrome, Abondonment, Carers Wellbeing, Cancer, Chronic Illness, Depression, Domestic Abuse, Infertility, Infidelity, Learning Disabilities, Life Transitions, Parenting, Pregnancy, Relationships, Self Esteem, Sexual Abuse, Stress, Trauma.
